It is remarkable that 61 of 170 cases of fracture were of the skull, largely self inflicted. Epidemic Diseases.

Small pox.

A severe epidemic occurred during the last 3 months of the year. A successful vaccination campaign was organized, 1320 cases were notified.

Plague.

This was less prevalent, 148 cases only being notified against 1.181 in 1922. A very large number

of rats were examined (nearly 10.000) and only 11 were found to be infected.

Kowloon Dispensary.

The Committee will note with appreciation the

very large increased attendance, 31.765 against 24.768

in 1922.

Tung and Hospital Victoria.

10% of the total admissions were for Beri-Beri

but the death rate was 10% less than in 1922 of this

disease,

Bacteriological Department.

There was a very considerable increase in the

number of specimens examined, 7548 against 4514 in

1922.
